My five books on ancient philosophy for modern life

Here’s an interview I did for The Browser’s excellent feature, ‘Five Books‘, where writers pick five books on a certain theme (all the while sneakily trying to promote their own book). My theme was ancient philosophy for modern life, and I picked Donald Robertson’s The Philosophy of CBT, Pierre Hadot’s Philosophy as a Way of Life, Alain de Botton’s Consolations of Philosophy, Jeffrey Sachs’s The Price of Civilization, and finally Clay Shirky’s Cognitive Surplus. Might not seem obvious choices, but I think all those books illustrate something interesting about why ancient philosophy is enjoying something of a renaissance today. Hope you enjoy it.
