TEDEd: How pandemics spread

As another entry in the file marked 'why Jules is a cynical old sod', here is a great TED video to disprove my cynical theory that TED is always cheesy tech-optimism. This video, which is the opposite of cheesy tech-optimism, is made by a colleague of mine at the Centre for the History of the Emotions, Mark Honigsbaum, made for the new venture TED Education. TEDEd will make short videos as material for schools etc.

In general, I think video materials for school lessons is a great venture and there could be some really great stuff developed for existing A-levels (religious studies, philosophy) or some ideal future course (the art of living). This vid shows some of the magic that can be achieved with the combination of animation and ideas.
